Bob Suchy Says:

For this event, please respond only to my personal email: bobsuchy@bellsouth.net Do NOT respond to the All Regions Mail list in the address area of this email. Thank you!

Paul, Wolfgang, and I have organized an event for driving on the full track at VIR. Our British Invasion. This is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2021 with a rain date of Thursday, April 22, 2021. I am sending this invitation to ALL REGIONS of the TCOC. I am required by VIR to send them an accurate number and the names of all those who will attend, no later than April 18. Therefore, if you plan to attend, please respond directly to my personal email of bobsuchy@bellsouth.net. In addition please advise me no later than April 8th if you want to purchase a Grilled Chicken box lunch from VIR for $21 cash each. Please do not reply to the All Regions mail list.

I have attached a PDF file of VIR Waivers that VIR requires that each of us going on the track must read and sign, and in addition the Liability waiver must also be signed by a witness. Please print a copy of both waivers and have them signed and dated and ready to hand in at the VIR entrance gate, where they will be verified by the list of names I sent to VIR. The waivers are required for both drivers and passengers. You will not be allowed to enter VIR without these waivers. Write in “VIR Club” at the top of the waivers in the field titled “Description and Location of Scheduled Event(s)”.

We will follow Social Distancing and Face Mask guidelines during this event.

Here is the timing of the event:
1) For Raleigh area members we will meet at 9:00am at Wolfgang Hustedt’s house at 10805 The Olde Place, Raleigh, NC 27614, We will leave Wolfgang’s house at 9:15 for a backroads drive to VIR arriving at the VIR Skid Pad at 10:30am.

2) We will all meet at 10:30am in the area of the VIR Skid Pad. Here is a link to the VIR layout. Follow North Paddock Lane up to the large paved Auto Cross & Skid pad area on the right, that is next to the Pavillion.

3) Around 11:00 to 11:15am, Paul will lead the group over to the VIR track.

4) All drivers must attend the Parade Lap Drivers Briefing at 11:30-11:45am.

5) Parade Laps 12:00-12:20pm. Paul Morro will lead the group onto the track. This is not a high speed event, however, for the courtesy of the other drivers, we request that slower drivers queue up at the end of the line.

6) Lunch after the Parade Laps. For those who requested the Box Lunches, they may be purchased for $21 cash at the Pavillion. You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch and drinks. After the Parade Laps we will drive back to the Skid Pad and eat our lunches in the Pavillion from which we can watch the racers on the track. After lunch we will have an informal car show and tyre kicking event at the Skid Pad. Door prize drawings to be held after lunch.

7) When ready, Raleigh area members will convoy back to Raleigh, led by Wolfgang.

Note: Depending on the response to this invitation we may have to limit the numbers of cars allowed on the track. So it is important to notify me as soon as possible if you will be attending.

Note: For those traveling a long distance the Lodge at VIR will be open for overnight stay. The Lodge overlooks the track. The phone number is 434-822-7700, Ext 101.

TCOC Clubwide Christmas Party @ Coachman Trail Clubhouse
Dec 9 @ 12:00 pm
TCOC Clubwide Christmas Party @ Coachman Trail Clubhouse | Raleigh | North Carolina | United States
Clubwide Christmas Party on Dec. 9 in Raleigh
It is the Eastern Region’s turn to host the clubwide Christmas party this year. We have reserved Paul and Marilyn’s clubhouse in Coachman’s Trail for Saturday, Dec. 9. The address is 11412 Coachmans Way, Raleigh NC 27614, We plan to eat at noon, followed by the business portion and gift swap.

The clubhouse has been recently renovated and updated since the last time we were there, and is looking beautiful! The clubhouse will cost us $125. We have a budget of $25/person, and anticipate about 60 based on past years. I am going to talk to Milton’s, who we’ve used in the past, this week. They are well within budget. Jeff and Julie Morgan are looking into a caterer they used for their wedding. I would love help from our region for finding a caterer, planning, organizing, decorating, setup and cleanup. Please contact Marilyn Gist at 919-280-1027 or margist@aol.com to volunteer and share your ideas!

There was some discussion about trying to find a more central location for the clubwide party, such as the Roadhouse in Pittsboro (closed), or when we used to do it as a potluck at the zoo in Asheboro (now beyond our budget because we have to use their caterer), or the Andrew’s church in Siler City. I tried unsuccessfully to find a central spot, but if any of you want to try to find one for a future year, be my guest! I spoke to Steve Ward about this, and he is just fine with using our clubhouse again. When it has been Charlotte’s turn, they host it in Charlotte. When it is the Triad’s turn, they host it in the Triad. If Steve Ward is happy with our clubhouse in Raleigh, I’m done.
