TCOC at the 2024 VTR Convention
The TCOC was well represented at this year’s VTR as 14 intrepid members made their way to beautiful south central Indiana. Those attending this year’s event were: Dick & Judy Birch (our transplant members who now live in Indiana – my home state by the way), Carl & Debbie Davidson, Steve & Sandy Lail, Stu & Debbie Laswell, Daryl Siefert & Betsy Baldwin, Terry & MarJean Telke, John & Carrolina Tweed.
Upon arrival we were greeted with true Hoosier Hospitality, they even arranged for us to have beautiful sunny weather for the entire week! As is typical for VTR, a full slate of activities was scheduled for us to enjoy. In addition to the Car Show, we were able to explore the area with TSD & Gimmick rallies, guided tours to local wineries & distilleries, self guided drives to other local points of interest, Funkana, Gymkana and Autocross events. The gently rolling hills and heavily forested landscape (much different than the flat croplands up north) provided for scenic and exciting drives. The roads were perfectly suited for our nimble little cars!
Not only did we show up, but we made an impact on both the show field and the autocross track. At the banquet Thursday night it seemed like a steady stream of awards for our TCOC group. In Participants Choice Terry & Marjean took home Best in Show with their 1953 Renown, Steve & Sandy garnered a 3rd place with their 1976 TR 6. In Concours John & Carrolina won 1st place with their 1968 TR 250.
We also showed our mettle on the autocross circuit. Stu Laswell took home 1st place with his TR 3. Carl Davidson sped his way to victory in his TR 6 and yours truly finished a close second in my TR 6.
In addition to these, we also took home a couple of other prestigious awards. Our TCOC Newsletter was recognized as being The Best – congrats to Brady! Finally, Terry was inducted into the VTR Hall of Fame. Quite an honor for one of the founding members of VTR.
All in all it was a great week (other than my leaky water pump) that we all enjoyed with lots of wonderful people. Next years event will be hosted by the Minnesota Triumph Club and is being held in LaCross, Wisconsin. Make your plans now!
